About Jennifer Smith

candidate for Benton County JP - District 4

If you live in District 4… Let’s talk!

I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, and Citizen of the Cherokee Nation. I grew up in Oklahoma and was fortunate to live near a lot of my extended family – grandparents, aunts, uncles, great grandparents and lots and lots of cousins.

I was born and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma. I graduated from Muskogee High School then obtained my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Arkansas. I continued my education at the University of Oklahoma School of Law and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar. After law school, I accepted a position with a Fortune 1 retailer headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas. My husband Scott - a Bentonville native, and I have lived in Benton County for more than 20 years. We've raised our daughter here and plan to call Rogers home for a very long time.

Over the years I’ve witnessed, supported, and actively worked alongside my family serving the community and country through volunteerism, military service, civil service, and as elected representatives in local, state, and tribal government.

I want to carry on this legacy of service and model it for my own daughter.

When I would visit my grandma Darlene, one of our favorite activities was to watch the evening news together. While watching stories about our political leaders we would sit and talk about what we would do differently if only given the chance. I didn’t realize it at the time, but grandma Darlene was nurturing something in me that would ultimately inspire my decision to run for office.

I’ve always thought of myself as an engaged citizen - voting actively since I turned 18. My work requires me to be familiar with public policy at the local, state, and federal level. Recently, I realized being an engaged citizen is not enough… I decided to become an active citizen.

I am no longer just watching from the sidelines, I am taking the field.

During my 22 year career with a local Fortune 1 retail company, I have sharpened my problem-solving skills and learned that the best solutions are achieved when you have a group of people with different ideas, perspectives, and life experiences working together on the solution.

I will serve as a bridge between the residents of Benton County and the Quorum Court keeping you informed about the issues being discussed and how they could impact you. To land on the best solutions for all of Benton County, I’m going to need your help.
